What Dial-A-Ride Is - How It Works - Who Are We - About Our Staff

What Is Dial-A-Ride?

Dial-A-Ride is defined as an on-demand door-to-door service. You can think of it as a hybrid of a regular transit bus route and a taxi service.

How Does It Work?

We schedule rides to form a route much the same as a regular bus route. The difference is the route is not fixed but designed according to the location of the pick-up and drop-off locations of the customers who call for rides. This allows us to tailor each route to the needs of our customers.

Who Are We?

South Bay Dial-A-Ride has been in operation for nearly 20 years serving the local transportation needs of Los Osos-Baywood Park residents. The service is sponsored by the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors and operated by San Luis Obispo Regional Transit Authority (RTA). It is funded, in part, by the fare you pay and sales tax money collected through San Luis Obispo County's share of its Transportation Development Act funds.
